I'm going to use the C bar chord shape for basis for all these chords. I'll show you how to play the Major, Minor, Augmented, and Diminished Chords as well as go over the notes for each chord.

There will also be ukulele chord diagrams on the screen to help you learn the chords.

All of the notes for each chord will come from the C Major Scale which is C - D - E - F - G - A - B - C.

The roots for all 4 of the chords will be the C note which can be on the 4th string 5th fret of the 1st string 3rd fret.

The C Major Chord is made up of the C - E - G notes which are the 1 - 3 - 5 degrees from the C Major Scale. Major Chords have a happy and bright sound.

The C Minor Chord is made up of the C - Eb - G notes which are the 1st - b3 - 5 degrees of the C Major Scale. Minor Chords have a sad and dark sound.

The only difference between the C Major Chord and the C Minor Chord is the 3rd degree of the scale.

The C Augmented Chord is made up of the C - E - G# notes which are the 1 - 3 - #5 of the C Major Scale. Augmented Chords have a dream like sound.

The only difference between the C Major Chord and the C Augmented Chord is the 5th degree of the scale.

The C Augmented Chord is sometimes referred to as C+ or C(#5).

The C Diminished Chord is made up of the C - Eb - Gb notes which are the 1 - b3 - b5 degrees of the C Major Scale.

The only difference between the C Minor Chord and the C Diminished Chord is the 5th degree of the scale. The Diminished Chords have a suspenseful sound to it.

The best thing to do is to get these 4 chord shapes memorized and get the sound of each chord in your ear so you can hear the difference between all of them.
