Somewhere Over The Rainbow IZ Ukulele Strum Pattern Tutorial

Learn how to strum like IZ on the classic Somewhere Over The Rainbow in this ukulele tutorial. Free Strumming Mastery Ukulele Course https://bit.ly/2JcoYri.

The chords I will be using are C - G - Amin – F which are from the chorus of the song. Now let me explain the strum pattern which is based off sixteenth notes. It will count as 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a. This lesson will equip you to play on any type of ukulele, soprano, concert, or tenor, high G or low G.

This strum pattern can be played using your thumb and index finger but I will explain how you can easily play it using the index finger.

The pattern is a combination of D- Down Stroke, U- Up Stroke and M- Mute

The pattern is D DU MUDU played over and over again.

Since there are 1/16 notes, this pattern is played twice per chord. On playing it fast, this strum pattern sounds like brother Israel Kamakawiwoole IZ. The best way to learn how to play it fast is to first master it at a slow tempo and build up the speed gradually. I would also recommend that you master the strum pattern on the C chord, to begin with, and then add the G - A minor and F chords only after you are comfortable with it.
