The Mindset of Success

The Mindset of Success

Beings successful means different things to different people. Some people find success in spending time with their family, some people find success in making a lot of money while others find success if they are playing music or doing the things they love.

Defining what is success will be a topic we dive into later but right now I want to talk about the mindset of success.

I believe this is so important since many of us are still working at life and trying to determine when can you say “I’m Successful.”

I want to tell you that weather you have reached your highest pinnacle or not you can have the mindset of success.

Let me tell you what I mean and give you some examples of it from my own life.

First of all whatever it is you are trying to achieve in life, weather it’s get that perfect body, get that perfect job or change the world, there is already a blueprint out there on how to do it.

There is already someone out there who has done what you want. All you need to do is follow the blueprint they laid out and commit 100% with belief, discipline and persistence.

Let me share a story with you. I have always been active, and like to run, lift weights and take walks with my family. Although I was never obese my routine was random, I was heavier than I wanted to be and it was time to make a change. About 6 months ago I began a daily journey of strengthening and improving my body and mind. I went from someone that would jog 1-2 a week to a guy that works out every day for at least 2 hours.

At first I didn’t really know what to do but I started getting up at 4:30 am and getting my butt out running. This was a big change for me, since as a musician I normally worked till 2 or 3 in the morning and got up around 8. Now, literally overnight I flipped my schedule and started getting to bed by 11:30 Pm and getting up by 4:30 AM

While I was out running, I began to listen to motivation books and YouTube clips. One of the clips I came across was from Dwayne Johnson, The Rock.

I have always like Dwayne and respect the success he has achieved in his career as a wrestler and a Hollywood star. In this video he described his morning routine and said some powerful things that hit a chord with me.

He said that no matter what time his call time is on the movie set, he gets up 4 hours before that. So, if his call time is 7 AM he is up at 4 AM. He starts with his cardio, eats breakfast and then moves to lifting weights. By the time 7 AM rolls around he has already worked up twice and accomplished more than most people do all day.

So just like that this became my mindset. If I wanted to achieve success not only with my body but with my business, I had to start doing what The Rock does.

Everyday no matter where I am and no matter what happened the previous day, I am up at 4:30 doing my morning routine. This routine has become my mindset to success.

I know that if I do this every day I’m going to attack the day better and achieve better results, have more energy and over time achieve the success that I am looking for.

It’s funny because already in 6 months this has become so ingrained in my life that if I miss any part of my morning routine, I feel “off” the rest of the day.

No matter where you are in life, it all starts with a belief, a mindset.

If you want to make more money, you must start believing and doing the things that will help you accomplish that.

If you want to be a rock star, you must start acting like you are already a rock star.

Let’s take the great guitar player, Slash, from Guns and Roses fame. He became known for his great bluesy rock guitar solos and a classic look with his top hat, leather jacket, jeans, and boots.

Do you think this was just an image? Do you think he dressed in shorts and tang tops all day and then got all dressed up for his gig?

No, before Guns and Roses ever made it big time with their first album, Appetite For Destruction Slash already dressed and acted like he was a rock star 24 hours a day.

If you saw him walking down the Sunset Strip on a Wednesday afternoon he would look the same. You see he already had the mindset of what he was to become and it was just a matter of time before it happened, and when it happened he was ready.

Get ready now. Don’t wait.

Whatever you want, start believing now. Get those ideas and those thoughts toward what your ultimate goal or success is. You will only find success once you develop the mindset of that person you envision yourself being.

Find someone that has already achieved what you want, study them, learn from them, adopt their routines and mindset and you will be on your way to developing the mindset of success.
