I know learning fingerstyle ukulele is hard as a beginner. But don’t worry! I’m going to show you the easiest way to strum this Bossa Nova rhythm using the index finger. Be sure to follow fingerings that I give you in the lesson.

Typically, the Bossa Nova pattern will use an alternating bass pattern but this really only sounds good if you have a low G on the 4^th string. What I have done in this lesson is arrange it so it sounds good on any low or high G tenor, soprano or concert ukulele.

Another cool technique is to play the rhythm staccato (short) to help give it an authentic sound.

I am very saddened upon hearing the news that Ukulele Ray has passed.

About 6 months ago I started getting replies to some of my Instagram posts from someone named Ukulele Ray. He had seen my Instagram posts and since we were both located in San Diego he invited me up his house to jam.

At the time I had never heard of Ukulele Ray, but based on his posts I could tell he was quite a character. We communicated back and forth, but were unable to get together.

A month later I got another message from him, inviting to come jam with him at a gig he had somewhere in San Diego. It sounded fun, but I was out of town and unable to make it.

Through social media, I was starting to get more familiar with Ukulele Ray. He liked every one of my posts and his photos showed up on my Instagram feed every day.

Around December 2017, he again invited me to come and jam with him at his studio. Again, it was something that interested me, but it just didn't work out.

Beings successful means different things to different people. Some people find success in spending time with their family, some people find success in making a lot of money while others find success if they are playing music or doing the things they love.

Defining what is success will be a topic we dive into later but right now I want to talk about the mindset of success.

I believe this is so important since many of us are still working at life and trying to determine when can you say “I’m Successful.”

I want to tell you that weather you have reached your highest pinnacle or not you can have the mindset of success.

Let me tell you what I mean and give you some examples of it from my own life.

First of all whatever it is you are trying to achieve in life, weather it’s get that perfect body, get that perfect job or change the world, there is already a blueprint out there on how to do it.

It's funny to think that several months ago I remember being at 276 Subscribers and seeing other YouTube Ukulele Channels, like The Ukulele Teacher, and wondering how the heck did he get to over 900,000 subscribers?

Well, I should have guessed what the formula was, I mean people have told me but I guess I didn't want to believe it.

Somehow I expected my channel to go from 276 subscribers to 1,000,000 overnight, but it doesn't happen that way.

Here is what I have done to help the success of my YouTube Channel.

1. Post Great Content - posting videos that provide value to people's lives.
   
   
2. Post Regularly - posting at least 3-5 videos a week, especially early on really helps build your audience and I think YouTube likes when channels post great content regularly.
   
   
3. Titles - How you name your titles really affects how your video shows up on searches. Remember people like you and me are searching YouTube, so when we want to learn how to play "Free Fallin" by Tom...
