Hi Everyone! Welcome to Chord Mania! In this lesson, I will explain how I have arranged the classic song âSilent Nightâ into a fingerpicking âmasterpiece.â It differs from most other ukulele tutorials that have been classified as easy. This is definitely NOT an easy tutorial. As most ukulele tutorials seem easy they appeal to a large number of beginning ukulele players. But, since I am a technician, I will hold you to a high standard. I have tried to create a piece of music that will not only challenge you but also help you learn new techniques. You need to focus and work hard and you will be able to learn it. Once you master this piece, you will have fun playing it and impressing your friends and family! I use continuous right-hand fingerpicking pattern (plenty of backward rolls), âhipâ chord shapes, double stops, and some harp harmonics for this arrangement.

I will explain the âA Majorâ open position chord in the LIVE tutorial. Last week, I think I got a little carried away with the âF Minorâ chord and overlooked the importance of âA Majorâ chord. Many popular numbers such as "Sittin' On The Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding, "Blvd. of Broken Dreams" by Green Day, and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" by Jimmy Cox (although made famous by Bessie Smith and Eric Clapton) use the "A Major" chord. I will not only explain the notes that make up this chord but also the music theory behind this chord. I will also teach you how to transpose this chord so that you will be able to play this exact shape throughout the fretboard.
